I/O and Fieldbus

Count the digital/analog I/O and confirm communication options: EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus TCP. Make sure the controller supports the peripherals (grippers, vision, safety relays) you plan to attach.

Safety Functions

Verify Safe Torque Off (STO), safe stop and any required safety certification for your target market (CE RED, UL). Safety compliance is non-negotiable for export.

Motion and Programming

Check the supported number of coordinated axes, jog/path interpolation, and the ease of the programming environment. For integrators, an open SDK or a common robot language reduces development time.

Supplier Support

Confirm documentation, firmware updates and a reliable contact channel. A controller is only as good as the ecosystem behind it.
